I get the same error message when I try to use PhotoSync to sync the pictures from my iPhone 4 to my iPad 2, as well. However, when I try to use PhotoSync to sync all my photos from my iPhone to my MacBook Pro, I get an error message telling me to check my wifi settings - even though both of my iDevices are connected to the same wifi network.
#PHOTOSYNC WIFI CONNECTION NOT WORKING PRO#
I just downloaded the PhotoSync app onto both my iPhone 4 and MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard). Not trying to defend iOS - but trying to shed a bit more light on what the probable cause of issues with Synscan and iOS is.App Store :: PhotoSync Is Not Working - Check Wifi Settings? May 18, 2012 I haven't written iOS apps, so take note of that, but it certainly seems that Synscan could support background execution, etc. And Synscan doesn't have to disconnect when the device goes to "sleep" or a lock screen, they probably don't have background settings correct (see and check the section "Implementing Long Running Tasks"). Devs don't really understand "how" to write the app. It's almost always the app than the OS or the phone. I've seen a lot of this over the years of using (iPhone of one type or another since 2009). I think the 'issues' are due to the way the app is written. I've also seen that the Synscan wifi does not appear nearly as quick as my home wifi - so it connects to the home wifi first - sometimes. I've seen this with my iPhone and Synscan, and I often have to go back and re-select.

Android (depending on version) simply has a different set of wifi connection priorities (most recent?). When faced with this and seeing two different wifi access points it can "see", iOS will connect to the an access point that goes through a list (see for an explanation. Too many 'issues' on ios for me with synscan at this time.Ĭouple things here - I'm assuming you have both your home wifi and the Synscan set on "auto-connect". Coupled with the fact that sky safari will only work with the mount from an android phone, I bought myself one of those sturdy plastic phone/tablet clips and clipped it to the leg of my tripod and keep my old android phone cradled in it for use strictly with the mount. The android phone will always reconnect to the mount when I unlock the screen. About half the time the iphone will reconnect to the house wifi and then I will have to manually reconnect back to synscan. My old android phone reconnects to the synscan wifi much better than my iphone.

I'm more of a Mac guy, and haven't really explored a PC much for this purpose yet. Since it was only $20, I might just dedicate it to this particular use in the future. I have a cheapie Android phone I will try to use, and not sure yet if it will still maintain a connection even when the device goes to sleep/lockscreen. I haven't investigated to see just what features are available for background processing, but letting an iOS device sleep/lockscreen will drop the connection. iOS does support background processes, and WILL support background WiFi without issue (must use the proper APIs and the "rules"), but it seems the Synscan App doesn't operate properly in the background. The app doesn't work properly in the background. It seems like the WiFi dongle´s connection is very brittle, has anyone else experienced this?Īre you using an Android device, iOS or PC? Not sure about Android, but I know on iOS, you CANNOT let your device (iPhone/iPad) go to "sleep" or go to a lock screen.

So I managed to get it working by going to an area where there was no WiFi, and I even managed to upgrade the firmware there (thanks for pointing that out, I have another issue which is that even when I connect to the mount using the SynScan app, the connections drops out after a little while.
